The transformation of this inner-city back garden from a derelict site to a private oasis reflects an outdoor room that complements the character of the 1927 cottage and its grounds.
The strong curvilinear shape of the dominant lawn area is softened by ornamental style planting that creates a sense of intrigue and an enjoyable space to retreat to.
Dense evergreen shrubs have been planted for privacy and enclosure from the neighbouring properties and bronze coloured trees and shrubs have been used to provide contrast to the green backdrop.

A large moat style pond, which is a later added addition, acts as a threshold between the dominant lawn space and back deck designed to extend and connect the interior with the exterior space.
Views from the interior of the house into the garden are guided by the pattern of curves intended to lead the eye through space while ensuring an intimate connection between the house’s interior with exterior.
